U.C. Karmaker & Sons No. #2 Brass Handmade Special Kolkata, India Circa- 1894. This is a Spectacular brilliant reel made entirely by hand and pounded into this beautiful reel. I had a tough time researching this reel but finally talked to the Great Grandson of U.C. Karmaker & Sons via very tough translation. U.C. Karmaker is a very old Sporting goods retailer of everything fishing and specialize in bait and fish food. At first the Great Grandson told me this reel was made in 1947 and later after talking with his father he said 1894 so I am not 100 percent on a year. Again Translation is tough. This reel was made along with a few Hundred more in 3-4 different models exclusively for the Retail Store by a employee at that time. He explained that no machine power tools were used. When you open this reel up it is extremely crude and insides are not finished like a early American or Brittish made reel. That said its extremely smooth and very fast with a very strong clicker. The time and energy involved in finishing every detail on this amazing reel is incredible. The handle is unique and stunning and shows incredible. The reel clearly states the name and model number along with Reel spelled Rill . The other unique character is the trademark signiture is upside down and read from the bottom up by English standards. Just a truly unique collectors reel for sure with a interesting history for sure.
