Ocean City "CONTESTOR" Model 955 Engraved Level Wind Jeweled Circa-1942. This is a extremely rare very fine example of a reel only made 1.5 years and was not brought back into production after the war. Reel spins fast, smooth, with a gliding level wind and strong working clicker. Most collectors without catalogs have never heard or seen this model with really no mention about it in most literature and only seen in a yearly catalog. Engraved fishing scene is of a man with a hat putting a stringer of fish in a boat and its flawless. Spool is very clean light weight bakelight, removable bearing covers are jeweled and knurled nicely. Both handle and foot are clean with both handle grips spinning freely. Terrific collectors rarely seen reel.
