Ocean City Extremely Rare "1950W" Wide Spool Zephaloy Aluminum Alloy Level Wind with Extremely Rare Original Box Circa-1950. The first reel after the War efforts in 1948 Ocean City broke the bank with the Design and developement of this cool reel spending 250 thousand dollars or the equivelent of 5 million in todays market just to get this reel to the market. Made from Zephaloy or high grade aluminum alloy which had its roots from the WWII avaition field this reel didn’t disappoint. Its a fine reel that was considered the future in modern reel making, extremely light weight, spins fast, smooth as advertised, level wind that glides side to side, and with the clicker and brake functioning perfectly. This Extremely rare wide spool example made only 3 years is brand new never fished in MINT condition with everything functioning. The extremely rare box is also in very fine condition and puts this reel away nicely for storage. The rarely seen clear properly labeled carry bag is also in very good condition. The manual or instruction papers show just a little discoloration and a fold. I have been told by 2 Ocean city collectors that this is only the 3rd full combo ever seen and has never been seen brand new.
