Julius vom Hofe 3 1/4" x 2" Spool Hard rubber & Nickel Musky Reel - Circa 1889. This is a big Heavy reel that spins fantastic. This is a bit of a odd size reel that could be fished in the ocean or for big fresh water game. This reel is smooth and fast with a strong clicker. The Hard rubber is in amazing condition with no flaws. The nickel silver over brass does show some brass in some areas. For a reel this old and with the Nickel over brass some brass should be expected. The handle is in great shape and it looks great with a free spinning grip. The tail plate shows the Julius Vom Hofe 1989 patent clearly. Great ,big and rare reel to find.
