Edward Vom Hofe "Universal Special" Model 501 Size 4/0 Circa-1911. This fine reel was known as the “Special Celebrated Bass, Tarpon, and Tuna Reel”. Its great example of a bigger reel that spins fast and smooth with all functions working as designed. German silver is in very fine condition and the hard rubber is as well with just a couple of tiny nicks but no cracks or breaks. The case is in good condition except the strap is broken off short of the latch connection, it still functions as a great display and holder of this extremely fine Vom Hofe Classic.
