Bronson ALTOONA Rare First "WALNUT” No. #4200 Walnut Grips with Rare Original Box Circa-1935. The No.4200 “Altoona” can be seen in two varieties the first version with the metal tail plate was only made in 1933. In 1934, they added a Bakelite tail plate and this variety would sell through 1941. This is a very tough reel, a total transformation adding walnut color and walnut grips for the only time on the #4200 in 1935. Starting in 1947, the original #4200 Altoona was renumbered the No.4250, with the difference being the handle grips were changed from white to maroon, edges on the rim plates rounded and the different finishes and colors were added. This is a brand new never used level wind reel that spins fast and extremely smooth and the level wind goes easily side to side on command. The back plate mounted clicker is strong and loud. The extremely rare first original black box also comes along in 1935 for the first time and is in good condition showing little to no storage wear with a really good clear label.
