Boyer MFG Co. "The Winona Reel" Deluxe Model #105 with Drag Tensioner, Rare Original Picture Box & Rare Manual Circa-1919. This is a early model with Patent Pending clearly showing under the foot as seen in pictures. Boyer Manufacturing was a early pioneer of these sidemount reels and advertised them as casting reels for Salmon and Steelhead. This Deluxe model came with a brake or tensioner as seen in pictures as a small round brass assembly that tightens to actually release pressure for casting. Everything functions perfectly on this cool reel and it spins straight and fast with no wobble. Super smooth! As you can see especially on the under carriage its been fished but the front looks fantastic and is very clean. Heddon eventually around 1923 purchased the rights to Boyer Manufacturing and continued these fantastic reels with there own line. The extremely rare picture box is in pretty good condition showing limited storage wear. Rare manual overall is nice but shows some splitting on the fold seams. This box and reel combination is very rarely seen and never this nice.
